Free Arabic Online Multimedia
ArabiCollege offers a free multimedia service, this service is designed to cover the needs of learners at all levels: beginners, intermediate and advanced.
It is suitable for non-Arab Moslems, second generation Arabs living abroad as well as to all those who are interested in the Middle East. 'Level One' is for beginners who have no prior knowledge of Arabic.
The 'Learn Arabic' multimedia program aims to create a comprehensive learning environment that satisfies the various needs of learners. Whereas the program revolves around the 'Arabic Lessons', three complementary components are added to supplement the educational part; namely, a cultural component, a religious one as well as a keyboard tutor. The cultural component re-enforces the link between language and culture. It provides useful linguistic information related to the origin and development of the Arabic language. Through it learners are introduced to the Arab and Islamic civilization. An introduction to Classical Arabic is provided by the second component which relates to the Koran. It supplies interested learners with educational tools in a religious environment. Finally, learning Arabic on the computer necessitates familiarity with the Arabic keyboard, and to facilitate this task, an Arabic Keyboard Tutor is added. This makes the 'Learn Arabic' courseware, the first to cater to the global needs of non-Arab learners.
The multimedia course content

The Lessons
This is the core part of each level as it is the part that relates to the study of the Arabic language. Level One is comprised of ten lessons; out of which two are devoted to revision. In general a lesson is divided into three parts: presentation, exercises and games. Each part is further sub-divided in order to focus on the different skills. An attempt is made to develop all four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking - within the limitation of available technology. Speech recognition is to be included in future versions of the program

Keyboard Tutor
A keyboard tutor is added to all packages in order to help learners acquire Arabic typing skills. It is important to encourage learners to use the Arabic keyboard as this is mainly how they will interact with the program especially at more advanced levels.

Finally, Muslim as well as non Muslim learners who are interested in the content of the verses is given a chance to be exposed to them. Islam is the second most widespread religion on earth - after Christianity - with more than 1 billion believers.
